Who are we
Bathurst Resources Limited is a New Zealand coal mining company with a strong focus on people and long-term environmental sustainability.
The company has four operating mines supplying energy to South Island industrial customers – Cascade and Escarpment in the Buller coalfield near Denniston, Canterbury Coal, west of Christchurch and Takitimu, near Invercargill. Bathurst also owns a coal distribution centre in Timaru.
In addition to its sound domestic business, Bathurst also has permits over 10,000 hectares on the Buller coalfield where ultimately it plans to develop a full scale export operation supplying quality metallurgical coal into international markets. At that time, Escarpment will be ramped up to full development as an export coking coal mine – the key first stage of the long term Buller Coal Project.
In June 2013 the company completed its move from Australia and became a New Zealand incorporated company with its head office located in Wellington.
Bathurst’s shares are listed on the Australian Securities Exchange under the code BRL While Bathurst is listed on the ASX, the company is based solely in New Zealand where it employs over 110 staff. Bathurst has no projects outside New Zealand.
The company is totally committed to providing jobs and incomes for New Zealanders through responsible resources use. Bathurst is also investing significantly in projects to preserve the environment for the benefit of future generations. These include initiatives to protect native flora and fauna and biodiversity enhancement programmes in addition to employing leading practice rehabilitation techniques on its mine sites.
